In 2015 the Vulture Conservation Foundation released two captive-bred bearded vultures in the French Alps. This is part of an ongoing effort to reintroduce this species to their natural habitat, after they were hunted to extinction in the early twentieth century.
The digital illustrations below are part of a work-in-progress: a true story about the tragic end of a bearded vulture named Angèle.
